Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

thank you @CheerBear @Snowie Heart

Re: Craft Corner

Hi @CheerBear and all

What do you think is a reasonable size for a blanket?

Re: Craft Corner

There are a few guides for blanket sizes online, depending on what size you're going for @outlander like this one:

Must be growing for you to be thinking about sizes 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Hi @outlander@CheerBear@Snowie@Sans911@Shaz51 and everyone here in Craft Corner! I've been up this morning working on a 'crazy blanket'- ie a blanket in strips of 40 stitches wide by 1.6m long on 4mm knitting needles using yarn from my stash pile in no real pattern, just garter stitch- for a charity called Kogo. I'm nearly finished my first strip- about 40cms to go!- so then I have another 7 strips to go, but at least it's getting there! I take it wherever I go with plenty of balls of yarn as I like to have a variety of colours to mix the strip

up according to how I feel and also if I get sick of a colour, I can change it! The yarn I use is 8ply which I've got heaps of so it's a great stash buster and gives me the option of buying more yarn later on!

Speaking of blankets, @outlander I saw your granny square blanket 2 nights ago on Saturday which got me missing crochet so I decided to pick up the hook myself again after a fair while and start a blanket for myself. This time, I'm using a Lincraft cake called Circus on 4.25 hook and plan to make a blanket using the 7 balls I got for my birthday last month. I can't believe how calming and meditative crochet is! Thanks for getting me back into it, @outlander!  I'll post some photos soon so you can check it out!

Okay! Coffee calls and it's also time for me to get my day started. I hope you all get plenty of crafty things done today and I'll try and check in soon😊!

Re: Craft Corner

Hi @Judi9877. Nice to 'meet' you! I crochet also and enjoy getting to know other craft lovers 😊

Great to hear you're back into it! I find crochet to be very calming (most of the time, when I'm not frustrated or lost counting stitches!). Your crazy blanket sounds very interesting. And 7 yarn cakes 😮😍 That's like yarn heaven to me 😆! I can imagine that would make a beautiful blanket.

I didn't see @outlander around yesterday but mentioned on a different thread that I'd started an Outlander inspired continuous granny square blanket after looking for something to keep my hands busy (and maybe try and cull my stash a little too!). Hoping I'll have some time this afternoon to keep working on it.

Looking forward to seeing your photos when you share. Hope your coffee is good and you have a chance to relax with some yarn today 🙂
