Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

😍 So lovely @outlander ❤ It looks awesome and those colours are beautiful.

Bet you're happy with it 😊 Thanks for sharing with us.

Re: Craft Corner

thanks @CheerBear
i am happy with it for sure. i think one more round of each colour ending in purple i think will make it big enough.
i started doing some of my aunts blanket today. ill just use the carnival brand she picked. im just on the 2 tone design. im thinking maybe 4 rows of blue then 2 rows of white then 4 blue 2 white and so on..

i doe a few practice swatches this arvo and happy with the technique now. would definently love to see yours when your up for sharing

have you ever done C2C stitch? they look nice but im not sure how id go with it

Re: Craft Corner

Oooh so exciting to have it so close to finished @outlander! Are you going to add a border?

I took some photos for you today and funnily enough one is of a C2C I did (but I was taking a pic mostly of the border so it doesn't show the effect very well). I have a pic of it somewhere deep in this thread but no idea where. I have only made one to completion but found it fun. They take a little getting used to but once you do they work up quickly and look really cool. I think you'd do well with it!

Re: Craft Corner

ill keep an eye out @CheerBear and let you know when ive seen them
i cant wait to see them!

hmm im thinking that with the rainbow blanket ill leave the purple as the end border but with the blue and white one i might make the border black... it might make the colours stand out more if the borders black. what do you think?

i may need to use the smaller swatches to practice the border though before i add it to the finished product.

now i want to try C2C stitch! see what youve done- created some sort of crochet monster lol. i only have one pair of hands haha.

did you work out how you want to join your squares? and what colour border you want to use?

Re: Craft Corner

Hehe crochet monsters rock @outlander 😊😁 So great to see how much you're enjoying it. It's been one of the best things I've learnt to do and having safely distracted busy creating hands has not only got kept me grounded during some tough times, but probably kept me going (full stop).

Black can be a pretty intense colour to use and it can work really well and not so well sometimes. Maybe a dark blue could be good too.

I'm sitting with all my squares (and a squillion ends to stitch in - ugh!) joining them with a whip stitch. I'll wing it with the border I think and just see what happens 🙂 Getting there now 👍

Re: Craft Corner

i can see both pics now @CheerBear
they are really lovely! i love the ripple one! it looks like alot of colour changes though is it?

Re: Craft Corner

its helping me get through lots of tough stuff too @CheerBear it is a very good distraction and a safe one at that!
thats why i said id practice 🙂 theres so many colours to choose from even just a white border or the blue would be ok but there seems to be lots of borders too. it might help to actually finish one first though!

your going to be there all night stitching those ends in!
i had to have a look at the whip stitch. it looks fairly simple. kinda like sewing them together?

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @outlander 😊 The rainbow changed colour at the end of every row. I didn't know how to work over yarn ends then so it stayed unfinished for aaaaages! That's almost a must learn trick I think. Are you working over your yarn ends as you go (I think you might be)?

Edit to answer above.

So cool to see you getting those benefits also 🙂

There are so many borders to choose. In having just as much picking them as the patterns at the moment I think!

And yep - I have at least 2 ends per square, plus all of the ends from the stitching too. It's going to take a while. Whip stitch is very simple though and its blending it well enough that it's hard to see which is good. Sewing is not my thing though!

Re: Craft Corner

ill have to have a look at the stitch, it looks like a zigxag but i dont know how to do that one either.

i have been working over the yarn ends for the most part but i went on to tying it off properly then cutting it. the parts being worked in kept coming loose so i ended up having to keep cutting it anyway till about the 2nd cluster and the stitches were pretty tight so not sure why they kept doing that.

yep thats alot of stitching in the ends! but i know itll look good. your work always does! and you said you werent going to do a bunch of squares and join them 😛
