Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

hey @hairdog welcome!

i really appreciate you sharing this with us, i can hear how painful and overwhelming things have been for you recently. i'm so sorry you've had to deal with so much on your own, and i'm really proud of you for reaching out and getting support.

it's okay to cry and feel lost. taking things one step at a time, even if it's one tiny lil step - is a big deal and matters more than you'd think. i imagine your world feels pretty rocked up right now, but know that this feeling is not permanent and things will get better with time.

we're here for you. sending you gentle hugs 💙

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Thank you Rav3n.

yes I am in a world of hurt and pain and very overwhelmed at the moment and to be brutally honest I feel that I cannot make it.

But I am going to fight and battle until I do

I want my family back

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Thank you @outlander

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

i hear you @hairdog there's been times when i've had similar thoughts too, and i'm still here. i believe in you, and we'll sit by your side as you fight your battles.

please do be kind to yourself, sometimes we tend to put so much pressure on ourselves to improve/do better - but we're only humans. it's okay if you stumble on the way, our healing journey's aren't linear. they can go up, down, up, down, down, up, up... but the point is, we're always moving forwards despite the ups and downs.

you got this!!

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Thank you so much

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi everyone.

Just some general advice and a couple questions

what helped me to do with waiting for help and waiting to see change was psychiatrists words " no big life changes made too quick" - she said that early on, between assessment and beginning medication.

So I put life and myself in a mental " holding pattern" you know like when planes just circle the airport waiting for clearance to land while, being mindful of : weather (outside me/life conditions) fuel levels (self care/protection) and restless passengers (symptoms flaring up)

Question is how do I turn off email notifications for replies in this ?thread? And if I hit reply on the last listed reply, is that for the person who made that reply or the original that I had replied to? This time I went to the first listed post/reply. Sorry/not sorry I'm not tech savy lol. This is why I refuse social media, I mean really... I have no/poor/backwards social skills let alone online with so many spoken and unspoken rules... I couldn't figure it out, don't pick up on social clues and made a d**** of myself or upset people or just got hurt.

"Click here- do this" instructions required

Thanks 🙂

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

hey there @42 it's nice to e-meet you!

love the example about the plane waiting for clearance, that's a great way of describing it!

in regards to your question about turning off email replies for this thread - so you'll need to click the 3 dots at the top of this page and then select 'unsubscribe'. if people tag your username in this thread, then you will be notified still but if you're not tagged, then you won't get an email.

to reply to someone, you need to tag them using the @ symbol and typing the username like this @42 - only those who have been tagged can see your reply. it doesn't matter which person's post you click 'reply' on, they won't be notified, only the person tagged in blue will be. if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out again, we know that not everyone is tech-savvy (sometimes i'm not either!) but we're happy to teach each other.

i'm also going to link this thread here: Start Here: Forums How-To - SANE Forums hopefully it can help you out a bit too!

Thank you @rav3n for the clear instructions and a link to look further

Metaphors and analogies are one of my neuro superpowers. I'm delighted my illness comes with some upsides, they're important for us (in this here mental health boat) to identify. I've been told they can help us find purpose, but I'm not there yet

Cheers, so long and thanks for all the fish 😉
