Re: Craft Corner

Good morning crafty people 🙂

@saturnzoon your leaping stripes looks awesome! Love the colours. Did the video link help with the ends? It's hard to tell how long my squares took as I spent chunks of time doing them. I started about a week ago. I'm planning on sending it to Kogo anonymously (so much has to be anonymous for me). I've been trying out different ways of joining them all this morning. Do you have a favourite method you use?

I'd love to be able to order more yarn for my epic garden project @outlander but it needs money and brain power to calculate how much I'll use that I don't have enough of at the moment 😏

A cotton blanket for your aunt will be beautiful! I havent used much cotton and my first big cotton project is my garden blanket. From what I've seen it's a bit more expensive than acrylic yarns and I dont know much about it really. I knew I'd be spending a bit to make my garden so I researched to find the one I liked most which is one I'd been drooling over for a while 😉 It's from a brand called Scheepjes. I'm using both cotton 8 which is solid and sunkissed which I think would be considered 'heathered' (kind of multicoloured) creating a dappled effect which is beautiful! It's ultra soft and lightweight but it is 4ply so it's much thinner than 8ply and needs a smaller hook and lots more yarn. Spotlight have some nice feeling and looking cottons too though. Looking forward to hearing what you decide!

Re: Craft Corner

I was thinking cotton @CheerBear so it looks neater as well.yours doesn't look like it has alot of flyaways which is what im after. I worry cause itll be for a baby. I dont mind paying abit more if its safer for bubs. There are so many nice and soft yarns. Out of my yarn stash atm she actually picked the carnival brand but in the 'soft'. Im more than happy to use that one.

Whats everyones thoughts on this brand for a baby blanket?

CB- ive never heard of kogo before. Ive thought about making lap blankets for the nursing homes too. At least they wont take as long either.

Re: Craft Corner

@Faith-and-Hope is that something youve made? Looks pretty nifty

Re: Craft Corner

Kogo is "Knit One Give One" @outlander 🙂 There's also Craft Ministry Australia which is a directory of charities of all kinds, looking for handmade goodies.

I like carnival yarn. It's the Big W yarn yeah? It's not hugely pricey and I can duck to the shop to get it and I havent had an issue with stock running out. The acrylic yarn is sturdy and works well for fiddly and sometimes frustrating joining of amigurumi parts 🙂

Have you chosen a pattern? I'm loving that you're already thinking of more projects 😁👍💕

Re: Craft Corner

Cool thanks @CheerBear ill have a look when im home. Currently waiting at gp but talking about projects is much better lol. .

Yep thats the big w brand. So far its ny favourite. Ive used a few others but i wasnt sure on them. The lionbrand is really nice too.
Well she has, i showed her 3 different pictures of the ones id practiced and were more confident at and she picked the granny stripes so thats the one ill do.

Have you made any more little mini creatures?

After the blankets ill give something else ago maybe a scarf or beanie. As we are in summer they wont get used ao plenty of time to practice!

Re: Craft Corner

Talking/dreaming/thinking/pinning/planning projects is often much better than many yuck life things I think @outlander. Big hugs and hope it goes OK for you at the GP.

The last creature I made and finished was the schnauzer, which I think you saw? I tried a Toby dog with @Zoe7 in mind but became annoyed with a misshapen head that wouldn't have properly caught real Toby's cuteness 😉. I then used up the last of my cotton finishing a round of the garden blanket and have been playing with granny square stuff since (and spending lots of time in my real garden too).

Granny stripes are cool too! I'll take a pic of a granny stripe I made a while ago and show you if you'd like. Its a granny ripple in rainbow and totally doable as a pattern 🌈😊

Better head off and do some offline stuff for a while. Good luck again 💕💚

Re: Craft Corner

Yeah @outlander ..... it’s a brooch ..... made from a kit from the art markets, but then you can embellish it any way you like.  I changed out the button that came with it for this rough shell one, and added some beads.

Re: Craft Corner

I'm sure your dog looked awesome even if it didn't look like Toby @CheerBear but I love that you wanted it to look like him - gives me warm fuzzies CB Heart

Love the brooch @Faith-and-Hope - my colours Smiley Surprised

Re: Craft Corner

it looks lovely. i like the colours youve used @Faith-and-Hope i can see it better now that im on my computer.

@CheerBear i agree with you craft/art is much better than the yukky stuff. the good thing is when looking for inspiration it is free!

i did see your little schnauzer dog! and it is cute! i think you made another animal/s too didnt you?

of course id love to see a picture! i managed a photo of mine today. i hung it up on the line cause i couldnt find a nice enouh spot. ill upload it here to share.
