Re: My special place

@Snowie haha i'm taking your advice to let my mum keep cooking 😋 when my mum wants a rest from cooking we order her food from the local Indian restaurant too although my sister and i have been encouraging her to try other cuisines, she really likes japanese & singaporean foods at the moment.

ooo that's so amazing! i think i heard something about a paramedic shortage? i hope D's enjoying the course and finding the work rewarding! what does S do?

Re: My special place

Sampling food from different countries certainly is something we do in our house @rav3n

I think D will always have a job when she finishes her course. We never seem to have enough paramedics/nurses. S is still at school. He does his final year of schooling next year. He has no clue what he wants to do!! I just tell him to take his time. He is only 17 after all.

@Jynx a mental health nurse sounds so good. I often wonder if D would like to be one, especially with seeing me go into hospital for my MH.

I am going to sign off and go to bed. Thanks @rav3n @Jynx for the chat tonight. It certainly has helped me. I hope you both have a good night.

Re: My special place

Aww glad to hear it!! Nighty night @Snowie 💜

Re: My special place

@Snowie oh for sure, our nurses and paramedics are super important! ooo big year for S next year, hope he savours his final year! i'm sure he'll figure things out as he goes 😊

hope you sleep well, night! 💙

Re: My special place

Didn't get much sleep last night even with my meds. My brain wouldn't turn off. Why does our brain do this to us? It's not as if it is helpful.

I have my pdoc this afternoon, have got a written list of things I need to speak to him about.

Watching the US Presidential Election. I don't know why but I'm fascinated by it even though I don't really care who wins🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Re: My special place

Agh, sorry to hear you had a bad night's sleep @Snowie

I didn't sleep too well either, I was woken up by what I think (after looking it up this morning and trawling some local facebook community groups) was a sonic boom from a meteor shower that was happening in the skies across Melbourne! Scared the bejesus outta me because it sounded like an explosion! No good trying to get back to sleep after that...

Good on you for writing down that list for your pdoc, it's so handy to do before appointments. Nothing worse than getting back home and realising you forgot to mention something important.

I'm avoiding the election news until this evening, I find it all a bit anxiety inducing so I'm trying to control my news intake

Re: My special place

Sorry about your sleep too @Ru-bee I live in Vic too, but a fair way out of Melb so didn't hear a thing. Hopefully you can take it easy today. Maybe even a nap.

My brain feels like it is in over drive at the moment.

If I don't write a list I will chicken out of saying it and/or forget about saying it. Sometimes I even give him the list so I am forced to talk about every point.

I never watch the news (too triggering) and have never watched the Aus elections but for some reason this interests me. I am weird after all!!

Re: My special place

What's sending your brain into overdrive at the moment @Snowie ?

Is it your appointment, or are other things going on? Happy to chat and provide some distraction if that might help

Re: My special place

Just a lot happening at the moment @Ru-bee in my life. I think it's trying to juggle everything at the same time as trying to keep my MH healthy.

Sometimes I think we push it aside to deal with other things.

Re: My special place

Oh absolutely @Snowie it sounds bizarre when you say it out loud but sometimes our live just get too busy to leave time for our MH too.

While pushing it to the side isn't going to fix it, we can only work within our capacity. Some days we might be able to tackle it all head on, and others we need to compartmentalize and put some things back on the shelf to get back down another day. It's all about just doing our best with what we have each day
