Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

the bottom one at top is not straightthe bottom one at top is not straight

Thank you @TAB for this, now i hope i can get some really good tips

Hello @outlander @CheerBear @Judi9877 @Snowie @Sans911 @Shaz51, if i have missed any one sorry i have just found out about this craft group

I knit and have for a couple of years was taught crocheting which i enjoy more than the knitting, I have only learnt granny squares and have made mall obes, big ones for a cot, and some for charity.

I am trying to learn new stitches, haven't got the gist on pattens yet, and i get very confused with the US version and UK one, and can't work out which one Im suppose to use.

At the moment I am making a big blanket for my sons and using Leaping stripes stitch, i think I'm doing ok except the ends, I ve been following a you tube of how to do it, but i don't understand how to do the ends.

I m hoping you guys might be able to let me know what I'm doing wrong, it says for end instead of doing a treble, to do a single stitch, then a slip stich, turn the row then do another slip stitch, and do the treble in the next stitch, anyways, I'll post what I've done so far.

I also find it a bit harder when i watch you tube videos of the stitches as I'm left handed and can't find much for left handers.

Sorry everyone i haven't worked out to get the pictures under the text and don't know how the picture further up got put there, I thought i put it next to this one.

Re: Craft Corner

Theyre early to bed here poss @saturnzoon .. @CheerBear usually around in the mornings. Sure you’ll get feedback 😀

Re: Craft Corner

Could you link the youtube clip your using? @saturnzoon

I use the US terms so when it says doubles/trebles i say they are trebles.

You said your stuck on the ends... which part are you stuck on? You've described  it well...

Re: Craft Corner

Thank you @TAB

@outlander I'm not sure how you add the websights here, that ive seen a lot of you do, so ill post the picture of what I've been following that has the persons name as well.Hope this is okayHope this is okay

What ive been doing is re winding it to where she does the end bit, to try and have a straight edge, and I just can't seem to get it right, I do the sinle stitch and turn the row, then chain one, single stitch again, then chain 2, and skip 2 stitches and then treble.Screenshot_20180911-214111.png

Re: Craft Corner

Ok @saturnzoon ill have a look when it pops up. @CheerBear is probably the best person to ask though!

@CheerBear did you get to do some crochetting today?

Re: Craft Corner

Good morning all 🙂

@saturnzoon it's great to see you here over in craft corner! Love your blankets, especially the colours in the leaping stripes. Your pictures in your posts look great 🙂

I hadn't heard of leaping stripes before. It's really interesting! I can kind of see the edge in your blanket that I think you're talking about. Blankets for me usually have one really straight edge (often the edge that is the right side when my work is facing up from memory) and one edge that is a little wonkier.

I had a look at the video you're using and the blanket finishes with a single crochet (US) border which will really help to make it straight. Even the blanket Bella Coco is making has one side that is wonky-ish before the border

Once you've added a single crochet edge you can keep going and do another, or you can look to add a different border. The more you add to the edge, the more even the edge will appear.

I guess that's my long way of saying that I think what you're doing is great and it's looking very 'right' as far as I can see. As long as you're doing what you said in your last post above, and placing that first stitch after turning in the very first stitch of the row, I think you'll be OK.

(There's a video here that shows very clearly where your first stitch of a row should be going to have the edges as straight as they can be. Might be worth checking that's where you're putting that stitch.)

It is tricky with US and UK terms. I go with US terms. It's what I learnt and most patterns seem to go with US terms from what I've seen. US makes a bit more sense to me in that a single crochet starts with one loop on the hook, double has two, treble has three etc - that's how I remember it. Most patterns will state whether they use US or UK terms.

Hope that helps a bit. Left handed would add an element of difficulty! Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it 🙂

Hi @outlander also. I read that you've been working on yours. How's it getting on? Looking forward to seeing it again if/when you share. I didn't get much of mine done yesterday but hope to do some today. It's only a little cat size blanket so it won't take much longer

Hope today is a good one for anyone reading.

Re: Craft Corner

Morning @CheerBear

Lol i had a feeling you'd know how to help, you are very clever at these things!
Mines coming along slowly. Ive almost finished one round of all the colours so can give an update soon if you like...
Can you share a pic of your cat blanket when your finished?

@saturnzoon CB has given a great response so don't have anything to add except keep going 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Would love to see @outlander, whenever you're up to sharing 🙂

I'll post a pic when I've finished mine. It's white, mint and pastel rainbow striped. My little cat looks petite and delicate (looks can be so deceiving haha) so the sweet colours suit her I think - not that I she would care 😉🙂

Re: Craft Corner
